When canceling a shipment on Easyship, refunds may be instant or delayed depending on the generation status. In this article, we break down the different situations and reasoning behind the potential delay.
1. Rejected or pending label
If you cancel a label that has not been generated (rejected or pending), the paid amount is immediately credited back to your Easyship account.
2. Generated label
If you cancel an order for which a label has been already generated, the paid amount will be credited back to your Easyship account within 10 business days. As the transaction has already taken place with the courier, extra steps need to be taken by Easyship to ensure the label is void and cannot be used before refunding the cost.
You can manually refund the credit on your account through the dashboard (Account > Payment Methods), see our article here. The paid amount will be credited back to your bank account within 5 business days. This means that:
- If the label has never been generated, it will take approximately 5 business days for the paid amount to be credited back to your method of payment
- If the label has been generated, it will take 10 + 5 business days = 15 business days for the paid amount to be refunded to your method of payment
Note: If the shipment has been lost or damaged, before we can proceed and refund you the courier first needs to accept the claim that we have filed on your behalf. It can take up to 90 days for couriers to complete their investigations and accept a claim. In case of lost or damaged shipments, the refund time frame mentioned above starts from when the claim was accepted by the courier.
