Flat Rate shipments are ideal for shippers sending heavy packages via the United States Postal Service. This article breaks down what these services are and how to use them on Easyship.
About USPS Flat Rates
Flat rate shipping is a shipping service offered by various couriers, notably USPS. Its primary feature is one flat rate regardless of the weight of the package.
If you're shipping heavy items that fit within the various packaging options provided, this could save you money on shipping costs.
How to Create a USPS Flat Rate Shipment on Easyship
Step 1: Login to Easyship, or create an account. Navigate to the Create Shipments section of the dashboard, and follow the creative flow as usual.
Step 2: To create a USPS Flat Rate shipment, select a specific USPS Flat Rate box.
Once shipment information is entered, select a courier service.
Step 3: You should now see a Flat Rate USPS option. As you can see in the example below, it is cheaper than other services due to the heavy nature of the shipment.
When selecting these boxes, please note that USPS requires specially marked packages sold by USPS. Please also note contents must fit comfortably, and packing must seal without any convexity/curvature.
How to Automatically Select USPS Flat Rate Boxes
On Easyship, the algorithm will automatically assign the best fitting Auto box to your order. Box assignation occurs on the dashboard and via the Easyship checkout plugin. To activate USPS Flat Rate Boxes, go to the Boxes Section in your dashboard and select Auto next to the flat rate box of your choice. Note that you need synced products with saved dimensions on your dashboard.
