Shopify Shop Promise

This article explains how Easyship supports Shopify's Shop Promise program, so you can keep your Shop Promise badge while continuing to fulfill orders through Easyship.

Overview

Shop Promise is a Shopify program that displays delivery dates and a trust badge on product pages, at checkout, and in the Shop app, for merchants who consistently ship and deliver fast. It's available to the top 1% of Shopify shippers, for US domestic orders estimated to arrive in five or fewer calendar days.

Note: Shop Promise is a guarantee Shopify makes to your customers, based on your historical fulfilment and shipment transit data. It isn't a delivery estimate or guarantee provided by any carrier.

If you're eligible, Shopify invites you to activate Shop Promise in your Shopify admin. Once it's active, Easyship helps you fulfil those orders without accidentally breaking the delivery promise Shopify has made to your buyer.

Easyship does this by:

  • Identifying which orders are Shop Promise orders
  • Surfacing the Ship By and Deliver By dates Shopify has set for each order
  • Showing only couriers that can meet that delivery window, and warning you if you pick one that can't
  • Letting you automate compliant courier selection with Shipping Rules, if you're processing at volume

You don't need to change how you use Easyship to benefit from this. It works automatically for eligible orders.

Eligibility

Shop Promise eligibility is determined by Shopify, not Easyship. Shopify periodically reviews merchants' shipping and delivery performance and invites eligible stores to activate the program. You can't apply for Shop Promise directly.

To use Shop Promise with Easyship, you'll need:

  • A Shopify store that's been invited to and has activated Shop Promise
  • At least one active fulfilment location in the United States
  • An Easyship account on the Plus plan or above
  • The Easyship–Shopify integration enabled

Note: Shop Promise currently only covers US domestic orders. International shipments are outside the program's scope, on both Shopify's and Easyship's side.

How Shop Promise orders appear in Easyship

When a Shop Promise order comes in from Shopify, Easyship flags it automatically. Open the order in your Shipments table, and you'll see:

  1. A Shop Promise indicator on the order, so it's clearly distinguishable from regular Shopify orders
  2. A Shopify Order Commitment row at the top of the courier selection section, showing:
    • The order date and time
    • The Ship By date (the latest date you need to hand the package to a carrier)
    • The Deliver By date range (the delivery window Shopify has promised your buyer)

Selecting a compatible courier

Easyship evaluates each courier option against the order's Deliver By window before you confirm a shipment.

  1. Open the Shop Promise order and go to courier selection.
  2. Review the courier list. Each option is labelled:
    • Meets Shop Promise Commitment — the courier's transit time falls within the Deliver By window
    • Doesn't meet Shop Promise Commitment — the courier's transit time falls outside the window
  3. Optionally, switch on the toggle Only show courier options that meet my Shop Promise Commitment to filter out non-compliant couriers entirely.
  4. Select a courier and confirm the shipment as usual.

Note: You can still select a courier that doesn't meet the commitment; Easyship only warns you, it doesn't block the selection. This gives you the chance to reconsider before the shipment goes out, but the final decision is yours.

Automating compliant courier selection

If you're processing Shop Promise orders at volume, you can set this up once using Easyship's Shipping Rules, rather than reviewing every order manually.

  1. Go to Shipping Rules.
  2. Create a new rule (or edit an existing one).
  3. Add Shop Promise order as a condition.
  4. Set the action to either:
  • Filter couriers by delivery date, using a 5-day threshold, or
  • Always select the fastest courier for Shop Promise orders
  1. Save the rule.

Once the rule is active, qualifying orders are routed to a compliant courier automatically, with no per-order review needed.

Things to keep in mind

  • US domestic orders only. Shop Promise doesn't apply to international shipments, and Easyship follows the same boundary.
  • Courier eligibility can change. Shopify determines which couriers qualify, and Easyship reflects those changes in real time — the compatible courier list isn't fixed.
  • Badge suppression is handled by Shopify, not Easyship. If Shopify pauses your Shop Promise badge due to a performance drop, Easyship can't reinstate it. You'll need to improve your on-time delivery rate (OTDR) and wait for Shopify to restore it.
  • Mixed-cart orders follow Shopify's rules. If a cart contains items that don't all qualify for Shop Promise, Shopify may not display the badge for that order. Easyship follows this automatically — there's nothing extra to configure.

Ship By and Deliver By dates on non-Shop Promise orders

Shopify's Ship By and Deliver By dates aren't exclusive to Shop Promise. If you've configured delivery date estimates in your Shopify settings, regular Shopify orders can carry these dates too. When they do, Easyship surfaces them the same way, with the "Meets/Doesn't meet Shopify commitment" labelling on couriers.

FAQs

What is Shopify Shop Promise?

Shop Promise is Shopify's trust badge program for merchants who consistently ship US domestic orders in five or fewer calendar days. It's available to the top 1% of Shopify merchants by shipping performance, as assessed by Shopify.

Do I need to do anything to turn this on in Easyship?

No. If your Shopify store has Shop Promise activated and your Easyship account meets the plan requirements, Shop Promise orders are flagged and handled automatically — there's no setup required beyond having the integration enabled.

What happens if I select a courier that doesn't meet the commitment?

Easyship shows a "Doesn't meet Shop Promise Commitment" warning on that courier option. You can still choose it, but you'll see the risk before you confirm the shipment.

Can I lose my Shop Promise badge because of a courier I chose in Easyship?

Badge suppression is based on your overall on-time delivery performance over time, tracked by Shopify, not on any single shipment. Consistently choosing non-compliant couriers can affect that performance, which is why Easyship flags the risk upfront.

Does this work for orders outside the US?

No. Shop Promise only covers US domestic orders. Easyship's Shop Promise features follow the same scope.

Where can I check my Shop Promise eligibility or performance?

Eligibility and performance tracking are managed in your Shopify admin. Easyship doesn't determine or display your overall Shop Promise eligibility status — only order-level courier compatibility.
