There are many important aspects to think about when choosing the courier to deliver your items.
One of them is balancing the value of the item and the cost for transportation.
When choosing a courier with a lower pricing, this commonly impacts the liability of the courier in cases of lost or damaged shipments.
Low-cost couriers limit their liability and do not offer any insurance or refunds in case a shipment is Lost or Damaged in transit.
Express couriers may offer up to a maximum liability of USD$100 on Lost or Damaged goods.

If your item is of high value you may want to consider adding the Added Insurance provided by Easyship. This Insurance will cover up to USD$5,000.

Easyship provides an option for you to add insurance to your shipment on our platform.

The default setting for insurance on your shipments will be 'No,' so if you want insurance, make sure to switch the setting to 'Yes' during shipment creation.
The Insurance fee is based on the total value of your shipment and if it is domestic or international.
The insurance will cover the full declared value of your product up to USD$5000.
Insurance when purchasing label
Once you have selected your labels that you wish to purchase, you will be prompted if you wish to add insurance for applicable shipments. Please note that shipments that include a commodity, destination or otherwise which is not available for insurance, it will not be added here.
Insurance in Shipping Rules
With Easyship's Shipping Rules in your Dashboard, you can apply different rules which will make sure that insurance is included for your shipments.
For example as per the example below to the left, you can make sure that all shipments over a certain customs value automatically include insurance.
Or you can add insurance for shipments to certain destinations as per the example to the lower right side.
With Easyship Shipping Rules, you can automate your processes and keep shipping Easy!
Insurance in File Upload
When creating multiple orders via File Upload, you can also ensure that Insurance is added to your orders. Below is an example from our Easyship File Upload template.
In the field for Shipping Insurance simply add "Yes" and insurance will be included in your order upon creation!
