Shopify has introduced a duty and tax calculator at checkout, which can be set up in the Checkout Settings section of your dashboard.
How It Works With Easyship
You can configure duties by region using Shopify, and this will integrate seamlessly with Easyship. In your store’s checkout settings, indicate to Easyship that you’re using Shopify’s Duties and Taxes feature, and select the destination countries where it applies. You can refer to this article on Shopify documentation to understand more about this feature.
On your store page, in the Checkout settings, you will find a setting that indicates to Easyship that you are using the Shopify Duties and Taxes, and for which destination countries you wish to apply it to.
Once activated:
- For selected destinations, the checkout will display DDP-handling courier options if duties and taxes apply.
- Shipping rules related to DDU or DDP will be ignored.
- Duties and taxes will be excluded from the shipping costs shown at checkout, though courier handling fees will still apply.
After Syncing Orders to Easyship:
- Shopify’s calculated values are preserved and accessible in the Courier Comparison.
- The total shipping cost will reflect Shopify's calculations.
- Since duties and taxes have already been collected, switching the shipment back to DDU is not an option.
