Adding insurance to your shipments ensures your valuable products are protected. Basic courier coverage can be unreliable, so utilizing Easyship's Shipping Insurance is highly recommended. This insurance covers shipment values up to USD $10,000. For detailed coverage information, please refer to our Terms and Conditions.
How Insurance is Calculated on Easyship
The insurance price is based on the entire shipment value (shipping cost + customs value). Pricing starts from 1% for domestic and 1.5% for international shipments, with a minimum charge of USD $0.49 (or local currency equivalent). No additional fees apply when filing an insurance claim.
Create a Shipment with Insurance
During shipment creation, you can opt to add insurance. By default, insurance is set to "No," so ensure you select "Yes" if needed. You'll be reminded to add insurance if it hasn't been included. Insurance can also be added in the final shipment creation stage.
There is always a possibility that your parcel will get lost or damaged in transit. Therefore, we offer third-party shipping insurance as an option when creating your shipment.
Insurance in Shipping Rules
You can automate the addition of insurance using Shipping Rules. Set rules to add insurance based on specific criteria, such as shipment value, destination country, store, or shipment weight. For example, ensure all shipments with a value over $50 include insurance.
Shipping Insurance in File Upload
When creating multiple shipments via File Upload, you can add insurance by including "Yes" in the Shipping Insurance column of the Easyship File Upload template. Below is an example from our Easyship File Upload template. In the column, Shipping Insurance, add Yes, and insurance will be included in your order upon creation.

Insurance Settings
Customize your insurance settings by navigating to Settings > Insurance. Here, you can set a specific amount or percentage of the shipment value to insure, and choose whether to include the shipping price in the insurance.
For example, you can insure 85% of the shipment value or up to $300.
You can also decide whether or not you wish to include the shipping price in the overall insurance purchase and select your preferred payment method for approved claims.
