Types of Shipping Documents
Shipping Label: A courier-generated document displaying where the parcel is going and where to return it if issues occur. It also contains a barcode that when scanned, registered a tracking event.
Packing Slip: You can generate packaging slips for your parcels that break down the product, SKU, and price. These are primarily used to enable a smooth pick and pack process when fulfilling the order, and can also be branded with your company logo and used as a receipt. To enable packing slips navigate to Settings > Printing Options.
Commercial Invoice (international shipments only): The commercial invoice is the primary document used for importation control, valuation, and duty determination. The document identifies the items being shipped. Easyship generates a commercial invoice based on the information entered into the order. Why are my shipping documents missing the Commercial Invoice?
Downloading Shipping Documents
You will find newly created shipping labels in the Manage Shipments > To Download section in the left-hand column of your Easyship Dashboard.
Select all the shipments you wish to ship and click "Generate all documents".
You will be redirected to the Document Queue where you can monitor the generation of your documents. For example below, you can see completed documents and a batch that is in the process of generating. You can also print directly from the dashboard by clicking "print".
Printing Shipping Documents on Easyship
Once labels are generated in the queue, hover your cursor over the batch you want to print, and you will see the Print option. Click it and the shipping documents will populate on the screen.
You can either download the PDF and print or print it directly from the page. To avoid occasional formatting issues, it is usually best to download and then print.
Q: Do I need to attach all the documents contained in the file?
A: Yes, Easyship will generate all the required documents needed for your shipment. If they are not attached the shipment risks being returned.
Q: Does label quality matter?
A: Poorly printed labels can result in unscannable shipments that may be returned. If you are using an inc printer, ensure that the label is high quality and the barcode is crisp. The best way to print a label is by using a thermal printer.
